MA 395 - Spring 2023: Mathematical Mindsets
Students: M. Barrett, A. K. Cantrell, and C. Welton.
Exploring the impact of teacher and student mindsets on the students' perception of learning in the undergraduate mathematics classroom.

Research Question: What is the students’ perception of the learning environment in the undergraduate mathematics classroom, and how is this influenced by the students’ and teachers’ mindset?

MA 395 - Fall 2024: Tech Enhanced Math Activities*
Students: C. Jackson & K. Cook
Technology Enhanced Math Activities from Intermediate Algebra to Calculus 3
Research Questions: How does the implementation of an integrated, technology-enhanced mathematics activity in Desmos influence metacognitive awareness and problem-solving strategies among students in Intermediate Algebra and Calculus 3?

*Presentations accepted into (1) Hawkes Innovative Summit 2024, (2) Joint Math Meetings 2025

MA 395 - Fall 2024: Personification of Mathematics*
Students: A. Ary & L. Lash
Exploring the personification of math for students in a Math for the Liberal Arts course

Research Questions: How do students in a "Math for the Arts" course personify mathematics at the beginning and end of the semester, and what changes can be observed in these personifications? Specifically, how can these changes be classified and understood using quantitative open coding methods, and what do they reveal about the development of students' attitudes and conceptualizations of mathematics throughout the course?

*Poster presentation accepted - Research for Undergraduate Mathematics Education (RUME) 2025 conference
