The program has three goals: creating and evaluating the summer bridge program, investigating mentorship, and training the professional engineer (Principal Investigator) to conduct impactful engineering education research. Participants in the bridge program will receive tutoring and mentorship from three mentors, participate in field trips and community service, and take two courses during the summer. We believe this approach will improve recruitment and retention rates and increase students' confidence. The PI will be mentored in data collection, survey design, and dissemination of results.
